Who Is Marlene Maina?

When God wants to use a man, watch HIS methods, watch HIS waysHow HE ruthlessly perfects whom HE royally elects (anonymous)

“As my mother’s casket was being lowered into the ground, I watched in slow motion as my father threw his hands up in a rage and stormed off—for good. My broken heart could not be comforted. My eyes stayed on my younger sisters only 11, 12 and 15, weeping uncontrollably, their knees giving way. Nothing could describe the dread that gripped me as we slowly walked away from that grave into what felt like a black hole of a future. We were homeless, trapped in hopelessness, successfully silenced by the shame of losing—everything. Two things I simultaneously longed for: death or a place—a place where seeds of hope could stand the chance to germinate out of the darkness of my young broken heart.” MARLENE MAINA  –  Chair and Founder, JosiahKids Incorporated

The works of a Holy God: Sometimes in a classroom, sometimes a chisel, sometimes between a rock and a hard place, the LORD of Hosts has patiently refined a cherished daughter He loves. He rescued me! Purging, cutting, and trimming down to diminish all that was unlike Him. Coring out of me the impatience, prideful heart and hopelessness that once snuffed out completely the light of day. El Chanun (the Most Gracious God) has blessed my life with just the right amount of burdens and troubles to keep me humble and dependent on HIM, to prove me, to test me, to prepare me for HIS purpose… and to so graciously mold and lend me the vision to SEE!  A Savior, Merciful. Gracious. Holy.  A Warrior King. My truest trusted Friend!

My story can be summarized very simply as the face, the shoes or simply the passing shadow—at one point or another of:  a broken girl, a grateful sister, a once homeless wanderer, a chosen head-student, a lonely orphan, a supernatural encounter, a dramatic rescue, a supplanted immigrant, a seminary graduate, a cherished bride, a thankful mom, an audacious disciple, a devoted employee, a joyful friend.  A heartbeat for the lost. A child of God!

And these are the 3 ways my husband Newton and I have managed to sum up the dreams, goals, and values for which our hearts now beat in this fleeting momentary life God has graciously given us~

  • To build our lives
  • To build our families, and…
  • To build the Kingdom of God

For HIS glory!

Journey well.

  1. Wow, I am inspired by the story of Marlene Maina, my role model in Christ, a great person that mentored me as a classmate and as my head student in secondary school. I really appreciate this lady a woman after God’s own heart, you have big heart, having gone through a lot but still holding on Christ, I love what you are doing @ JosiahJude. God is taking you far my dear Mentor. I loved your zeal for God those years and I still love it, even more today.
