About ME

Marlene Maina

Hey, thanks so much for stopping by my page!

During my primary and high school years, you never would have convinced me that I would one day be writing (anything). Grammar, Literature, and English were all aspects of my academic life that proved difficult and elusive to me. I was poor in English. Although my writing today could still seriously use the help of a professional editor, I am very grateful for my undergraduate professors who helped me see a gift I couldn’t. How beautifully their input led me on a journey of discovering a love and passion for words, and the creative expression I had no idea was buried deep inside of me. I love stories. I love substance, but also simplicity. I really enjoy reading the work of prolific writers who have found a worthy cause to champion.

I grew up in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to the United States when I was 19 years old. We had an amazing childhood at first, but it all soon fell apart into many heartbreaking chapters, followed by decades of a renewed remaking.

Today, I am a Christian writer, Bible teacher and the Founder of JosiahKids Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to educate, empower and equip young students and TEENS in the local community in the areas of faith, leadership, community service and the arts.

I have worked for a handful of companies, including The Coca-Cola Company (for 16-years) supporting senior leaders and have found that my deepest passion and highest Joy is YAHWEH–The Living God. Our love goes back to a high school dorm room (Yala) where He rescued me. A dramatic story that would better explain why I am so deeply committed to HIM and HIS ways. My studies include: a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Education, A Master of Divinity (MDiv), and a Master in Leadership.

My motivation for writing is to leave something of substance for our upcoming generation much like the writings of men like (F.B. Meyer, C.S. Lewis, C.H. Spurgeon, Ravi Zacharias, Chuck Swindoll, John Piper) have nourished, challenged and inspired me.

When I am not devouring the sacred writings of the Bible, I am probably reading a book, soaking in the performing arts, eating something delicious (with avocado of course), or enjoying good company with friends and family.

I have been married to the kindest, most amazing man (Newton) for 12 years now. We live a little North of Atlanta where we are raising our most delightful daughters; Joy and Journey.

Thank you for stopping by JosiahJude. I hope you will check-in often and be nourished a little.
